Frank E. Myers

Francis Edward “Frank” Myers, 89, passed away July 1, 2012. He was born on October 26, 1922 in Wooster, OH to the late Ruby and Clara (Wallace) and lived much of his life in Akron. He served in the United States Marine Corps from December, 1942 – October, 1945 with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Division in the Pacific Theater and received the Purple Heart on Iwo Jima. He later worked at Goodyear Aerospace from 1951 – 1986, retiring as a maintenance supervisor.

Frank enjoyed woodworking all his life; making cabinets, new rooms, porches, decks, work benches, crosses and so much more. In the summer, his favorite activities were fishing or playing on and in the water with family and friends. He also enjoyed outdoor work, spending much of his time working at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, where he had been a member since 1963.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Milhollin and Fern Myers; brother, Paul Myers; and wife, Louise. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Anita; sister, Virginia Andrews; brother, Ray (Elaine); daughter, Kathy; son, Jerry (Jermayn); step-children, Robin Schrock and Russ (Joan) Schrock; grandchildren, Tonya (Mike) Paulen, Joe Rinal, Mike (Mila) Myers, Clayton Myers, and Spencer, Ian and Hunter Schrock; great-grandchildren, Mitch, Destiny and Michael Paulen, Niko and Rachael Rinal, and Dasha and Joshua Myers; and many other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Hospice Care Center and Hospice Home Care, especially nurse Katrina. A special thanks also to his favorite home healthcare giver, Delcie.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Drive, Akron, OH 44312 with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating. Interment with military honors at Hillside Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 5, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., and on Friday at church for one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trustees Fund c/o Wedgewood United Methodist Church.
