Gary (Skip) W. Lohr, 76, formerly of Akron, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 10, 2011. Skip was born on March 25, 1934 in Garrett, PA, to Durbin (Red) and Hilda Lohr. Skip married his true love, Dorotha Lohr on November 5, 1955, and enjoyed 55 years of marriage to her. Skip and Dorotha, lived most of their life in Akron, and the resided in Covington, GA the last 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Hilda Lohr; brother, Tom; and sister, Sis Christner. Skip is survived by his wife, Dorotha; daughter, Robbie Lynn (Jeff) Folk of Akron, and son, Gary Woodrow (Woody) Lohr ll, and life partner, Jim Dellinger of Winston-Salem NC; grandchildren, Kevin and Jessica Folk; sisters, Bernie Garkovich, Sallie Kelly, Betty Hoover, Janice (Ivan) Saylor, Pat (Ed) Decker, and Terry (Mike) Modrak; brothers, Bob (Lois), and Butch Lohr; and a host of nieces and nephews
Skip was a devoted and loving husband and father and will be missed by all that knew him.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 16, ONE HOUR prior to the service, from 12 to 1 p.m.
