George Frederick Magoun

December 5, 1925 — September 22, 2020

George F. Magoun, 94, passed away September 22, 2020. He was born in Akron, OH on December 5, 1925 to the late George and Helen (Read) Magoun and was a proud World War II  Combat Navy veteran serving on the USS Killen DD 593.

George received his degree in Chemistry at West Virginia University. He worked as a chemist at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and retired after 38 years. He loved to play golf and support his wife Betty's creations of Art. He was also a member of the VFW Copley Post 473.

Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (McGuire) and grandson, Isaac Price Magoun, he is survived by his sons, Thomas and George III; granddaughter, Denise Magoun; nephews, Mark McGuire and Hunter Fite; and nieces, Dr. Victoria Akins, Karen Morgan, Nancy Risch, Mary Henderson and Helen Kish.

Military honors will be presented on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
