He was born February 11, 1917 in Johnstown, PA and had been a resident of Akron most of his life.
George was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army as a Medical Technician with the 106th Evacuation Hospital Unit. He was a lifetime member of the Painters Local Union 841 for 60 years. George was a resident at The Merriman with his wife Dorothy, where they lived happily together through the last years of their lives.
There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service and inurnment were held at Holy Cross Cemetery where Fr. Ralph Thomas of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where George was a member, conducted funeral services.
