George M. Stenger

George M. Stenger passed away at age 98 on November 4, 2024. He was born on July 20, 1926 to Mildred and Harry Stenger in Mount Holly Springs, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbur, Harry and Herman; sisters, Ada and Flora; his wife Jane and his 2nd wife, Cathy. He is survived by his children, Kenneth and Karen; and sister, Barbara. He is also survived by Cathy’s children, Scott (Joan) Armstrong, Lynda Wenzel, Kim (Jeff) Cockerham and Mark (Andrea) Goettel; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

George was a 65-year member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of Coventry-Akron #83, where he served as secretary for many years, was past master of Coventry Lodge #665 1970, past commander in chief of Akron consistory 1978, and past patron of Fernleaf Chapter #412 OES many times. He worked in the food industry for most of his life and retired from Sparkle Markets. After he retired, he worked Stambuagh Hardware for 14 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1944-1946 in the South Pacific Theater.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heather Knoll for their wonderful care of George. His body has been donated to NEOCOM of Ravenna to further medical science.

A Masonic service, Order of Eastern Star service and Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305.
