Gerald F. “J.R.” Emerick Jr., 55, passed away December 9, 2014. He was born in Uniontown, PA and was a lifelong Akron resident where he worked as a mason for over 25 years.
J.R. was a member of the Liedertafel Club in Barberton, where his incredible voice made him a renowned karaoke singer, as well as an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He always found the good in everyone and proudly said “love ya” to all he knew.
Preceded in death by his father, Gerald Sr., he is survived by his children, Jason, Joshua and Mandy; grandchildren, Zoe and Dylan; mother, Joyce; siblings, Joyce Dowling, Garry (Sue), Gene (Cindy), Grant (Kim) and Judy (Art) Trimble; best friend, George Trent; and many loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 6 p.m. at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 3819 Johnson Rd., Norton, OH 44203. The family will receive friends at the church for two hours prior to the service, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gerald’s memory to the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305.
