Grace Oakley (Eller) Archer, 92, passed away to her heavenly home on Friday, June 19th 2015. She leaves a legacy of great faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, never ending love and support for family and friends, as well as her contagious zest for laughter and life.
Grace was born in Sugar Grove, NC, but she was proud to live in Springfield Township most of her life. She graduated from Springfield Schools in 1940 and attended Hammel Business School. She was always a strong supporter of schools and all services committed to children. Grace retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service in 1985. She began her career at the Goodyear Bank during WWII and retired as Executive Secretary in management engineering. She served as Deacon at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church and her current church home, Springfield Baptist Church.
Grace was the daughter of George and Mattie (Farthing) Eller, the second of four children: George, Grace, William and Robert. She was married to William A. (Bill) Archer for 50 years and had three children, Sue (Ron) Kesterson of Columbia, SC, Tom (Linda) Archer of Girard, OH, and Kim (Daryl) Dockus of Akron, OH; proud grandma to Jennifer (Dave), Matthew (Erin), Robin (Zachary), Joshua (Kate), Emily (Kyle), Sarah, Noah (Katie), and Taylor. Proud great-grandmother to Pei, Abi, Claire, Alice, Grace, Zachary, Lillian, Ashlind, Micah, Eleanor, Jack, Greg, Callie, Samantha, and James (Jake) Oakley. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mattie Eller; husband, William A. Archer; brothers, George Van Eller (infant), Robert G. Eller; daughter-in-law Jeanne Fagerstrom Archer. She will be greatly missed by her brother William (Bill) Eller of MO and sisters in law Betty Eller of Akron and Mary Archer of NC along with many family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Road, Akron OH 44312. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry G. Baldridge officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
