Harriet A. Funk, 97, passed away June 28, 2012. She was born in Akron to the late Seth and Daisy Jones, was a graduate of East High School, and lived in Mogadore for over 65 years.
Harriet retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company with over 20 years of service and belonged to the Goodyear Blue and Gold Club. She was a charter and active member of the First Church of God in Tallmadge and loved animals and the outdoors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sister, Geneva; and brother, William. She is survived by her son, Richard (Patricia); granddaughters, Sherry (Paul) Vredeveld and Gretchen (Tom) Watson; great-granddaughters, Megan, Taylor, Allison and Emily; sister, Jean (Jim) Manning; and several nieces, nephews and many, many good friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor John C. Phillips officiating. Interment at East Akron Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Sunday, July 1, from 1 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave., Tallmadge, OH 44278 or the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
