Hubert N. Tomlinson, 89, passed away April 1, 2014. He was born in Somerset Kentucky, to the late Melvin and Ninevah Tomlinson, and at an early age moved to the Akron area. Mr. Tomlinson was a WW II US Navy veteran and proudly served aboard the Destroyer Escort, USS Eugene Elmore in the Pacific theatre of operations. He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 34 years of service as a carpenter foreman. His great loves were God, family, friends and golf; and he was an inspiration to us all.
He was preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Virginia (Jenny). He is survived by wife, Barbara; sons, Tom, and Gordon (Lynn); grandchildren, Barb (Scott) Knoch, Tami Saulic, Michelle (Dave) Kridler, Candice (Mark) Meyer, Kelsey, Eric and Nathan Tomlinson; ten great-grandchildren; and twin brother, Hobart of Texas.
The funeral service will be Monday, April 7, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Springfield Baptist Church, 1920 Krumroy Rd, Akron, OH 44312 with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St. Akron, OH 44305 on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m.
