Hugh was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Goodyear Aerospace with 47 years of service. He was also a long-time, active member of The Chapel, serving as an usher and deacon. He loved the outdoors, especially hikes with his wife, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie; brother, Thomas (Henrietta); and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Dick) and Audrey (Bob). He is survived by his children, Jeanette (Gene) and Gordon (Robin); grandchildren, Andrew and David (fiancée Karina); and many other loving relatives.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 281. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
