Jack Carruthers, 88, passed away at home on January 17, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born in Lilly, PA on May 18, 1927 to the late Thomas and Mae (Harris) Carruthers and resided in the Akron area all of his adult life. Jack was a U. S. Army Veteran and retired from Sacks Electric. He was a Soap Box Derby volunteer, an avid Steelers fan and a member and usher at St. Francis DeSales Church.
Preceded in death by his parents and son, Don, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Helen; children, Anita (Greta), Jack (Carol), Carol (Andrew) and Bob (Aimee); daughter in-law, Debbie; grandchildren, Anita (Brian), Dawn, Tyson, Jackson and EmmaLee; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ashleigh, Jessica, Kylie and Jenna; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be Thursday, January 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Francis DeSales, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
