James L Smith

James L. “Smitty” Smith, 79, passed away September 27, 2012. He was born in Akron to the late John and Elizabeth (Mazak) and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Goodyear with 44 years of service and lived the last 20 years in Carrolton, where he was an avid bird watcher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Russell, Phillip and David, and sister, Phyllis. He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Jenny) Aldstadt; granddaughters, Megan, Kaycee and Kendall; brother, Martin Smith; sister, Mary Ann Barclay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Robert W. Tauscher officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 3, from 4 – 7 p.m.
