James French Wykle, Jr., 89, passed away February 28, 2011 in Collins, MS after a long illness. He was born December 29, 1921 in Sanger, WV, the son of James Wykle and Winona Cantley. He was a retired labor organizer of Teamsters Local 497, Akron, Ohio, and a decorated WWII veteran who served with the 4th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. James was an avid golfer, United Way charity drive chairman, and faithful member of several Methodist churches throughout his life.
James was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Rosa Lee Pietkoski, his second wife, Madeline Radish, and four sisters, Margaret Long, Mildred McNulty, Nona Musial, and Charlotte Comedy. He is survived by daughter Debora Kerr of Midlothian, VA and sister Dorothy Hearn of Collins, MS.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Private interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron, OH. Arrangements by Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home of Akron.
