Jane B. Bowser, 85, passed away December 22, 2023. She was born March 11, 1938, in Pulaski, TN to the late John D. and Alma (Nelson) Butler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn; sisters, Dorothy Greer and Frances Shannon; and brothers, John M., William P., and Robert A. Butler. She is survived by daughters, Kenetha Bowser and Lenora (Donald) Gunnoe; grand daughters Jessica Gunnoe, Carmen Tenney (James Shaw,) and Allison (Kate) Gunnoe; great grandchildren Giauna, Jordyn, and Draylen Shaw; step-daughter, Hilda Cotton and her family; her three precious sisters-in-law, beloved nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Jane earned a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee University, taught one year of special education in San Diego, CA, then continued her career in Akron, OH after marriage in 1962. She retired after 50 years of teaching, tutoring, and substitute teaching in the Akron Public School system.
Jane was an active and involved member of Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional organization for educators. She was a charter member and founder of Nu Chapter, served as Phi State (Ohio) president from 2001-2003, and was chair of a variety of committees, most recently Kappa Book Club/Kappa Dominoes.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. She will be buried with her husband Glenn at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273 on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:15 a.m.
