Jason Paul Gerdes
Jason Gerdes, 45, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015 after a courageous fight with lung cancer. He is survived by his children, whom he loved and cared for with all of his heart: Hayden Paul, Caitlyn Jane, Ty Robert, and Molly Sue. The children attend Woodridge Schools. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Kellie Werschey, who cared for him on a daily basis during his illness; his parents, Chuck and Judy Gerdes; his brother, Michael Gerdes with his wife Mindy Larsen and their children Abigail and Milo, and brother David Gerdes, with his wife Claire Sullivan, and their daughter Corinne.
Jason was born on July 22, 1970 in Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up in West Akron, attending school at the Firestone HS complex. He had a degree in economics from Bryant College and an MBA in Finance from Akron U. For many years he was an associate with Philips Medical Capital as Region Finance Manager and more recently with Creekridge Capital as Direct Sales Manager.
He liked fixing up his home, cooking, and sports: as a spectator, as a participant, and coaching his children’s teams. For over 20 years, he enjoyed playing in the Walker Cup Golf Invitational, where he also served as grill master on Jay's Burger Night.
This was a rough year for Jason: for personal, for business, and for medical reasons. However, he never complained; his new e-mail address was GOGETIT1970@yahoo.com, which reflected his attitude towards life. A special thank you to Travis, for all you did for Jason. He had a lot of friends and was truly a special guy, and he will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Northampton United Methodist Church, where Jason was a member, at 852 West Bath Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Keith McLaughlin officiating. Calling hours will be at the church from 10:00 am - 12 noon, and again after the service when lunch will be served. Private burial will be held at Northlawn Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodridge Schools in memory of Jason.
