Jean E. (Keith) Barron, 80, passed away December 1, 2010. She was born in Akron on August 23, 1930 to the late William and Iova (Walker) Keith and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from East High School and retired from the Akron Board of Education with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Akron Public Schools Secretaries Association and of the Falls Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Jean was also a long-time, active member of the Wedgewood United Methodist Church. She was a former director of youth services, enjoyed playing the Hand Chimes, and served as the church historian. She was also a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, and she will be sadly missed.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the staffs of Hospice of Visiting Nurse and Cornerstone Medical Center, especially Angie, Vicki, Michelle and Heather, and to Dr. Trochelman, for his outstanding care of Jean.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating. Interment at Mogador Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Monday, December 6, from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wedgewood United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2350 Wedgewood Dr., Akron, OH 44312 or to Hospice of VNS, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
