John "Johnny" W. Lee

September 1, 1948 — October 22, 2017

John “Johnny” W. Lee, 69, lost his battle with cancer, which was a tough one, on October 22, 2017. He was born in Alexandria, VA to the late Henry and Nora (Doyle) and lived in Akron the last 54 years. He leaves his best friend and wife of over 50 years, Barb; daughter, Michele Carter; grandchildren, John (Maggie), Jenna, Janelle, and Jacob Carter; great-grandson, Jaylen Carter; sisters, Roberta Lee, Lois Walton; brothers, James Lee, and Martin Lee of Virginia; mother in-law, Catherine Caldwell; brothers in-law, Terry and Scott (Debbie) Caldwell; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Maicie and Mama cat. Special thanks to a special niece, Denese (David) Moore and sister, Roberta for all of their support. John was a very hard worker all his life. He worked for Sacks Electric and Rexel for over 30 years, along with roofing and other jobs. Johnny was a pro at pulling jokes on co-workers and family. He loved all animals (and wanted to feed them all), loved riding his Harley and took care of his mother-in-law for 11 years. He was a kind-hearted person and a wonderful husband.  He will be missed by those who knew him. Friends may call Thursday, October 26 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, October 27 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Raymond Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family suggests donations be made in Johnny’s name to One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, OH  44313.
