Joyce Hope Hazell

Joyce Hope (Hohenadel) Hazel, 95, went home to be with the Lord November 15, 2025. She was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Lester and Nellie (London) Hohenadel.

She had worked for the family business, Honadle’s Candy, for 30 years and as a nurse’s aid for 22 years.

Joyce loved her family and especially to have family get togethers. She loved watching golf and the Cleveland Indians play on TV. She also loved collecting baby dolls and stuffed animals.

She is survived by her brother, Paul Hohenadel of Uniontown, Ohio; son, Gerald Rouse, of Akron, Ohio; daughter, Diana Rouse, of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Wendi Kennedy and Leslie Rouse; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Brooks Kennedy and Michael Rouse.

She will be greatly missed and always loved in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Hazell, brothers, Thomas, John, and William Hohenadel; and sisters, Nancy McLaughlin and Esther Herdman.

We would like to thank all the staff at The Sanctuary Nursing Home in Wadsworth, Ohio along with Traditions Hospice for watching over Mom in such a caring and loving environment.

Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2850 Romig Rd., Akron, OH 44320.
