Karen L. Darnell, 56, passed away March 25, 2012. She was born in Joliet, IL and lived in the greater Akron/Ravenna area for much of her life. She was a graduate of Kent State University and retired from the Akron Metro Housing Authority (AMHA) after many years working as a social services representative.
Karen was a member of Broadman Baptist Church and was a former member of Central Baptist Church, where she enjoyed working with children. The most important thing in her life was her faith in Jesus and that she had a home waiting for her in heaven.
Preceded in death by her husband, John, she is survived by her parents, Charles and Susan Keele; sister, Kathryn Blankenship; brothers, Kenneth (Debbie), Kevin (Lori), Keith (Kim) and Klinton; and many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 2 – 4 pm, at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10 am with Pastor David Harbeson officiating. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery.
