Kenneth E. Hysell

September 26, 1935 — April 30, 2011

Kenneth E. Hysell, 75, passed away April 30, 2011. He was born in Akron to the late Starling C. and Vera (Bolin) and was a lifelong resident. He retired from the Hygenic Corporation and was the head elder at Gospel Crusaders Church for many years.

Kenneth was also an accomplished musician. He was the founder of the Bethel Heirs Quartet, and was proud to have sung with James Blackwood and the Oak Ridge Boys. He was also a member of the Akron Chapter of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association. He was a wonderful husband and father who always had a joke to tell, and he will be sadly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence, Rowland and Charles; sisters, Gertrude and Myrtle; and mother and father-in-law, Royce and Ruth Gates. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce; sons, Kevin (Dana) and Kyle (Renee); 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Gus Isakov.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Linda Martin at Akron General Hospital for her tender care, as well as the staff of Summit Villa.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Gospel Crusaders Church, 2240 Goodyear Blvd., with Rev. John Beers officiating. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 4, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joyce Hysell c/o Gospel Crusaders, 2240 Goodyear Blvd., Akron, OH  44305.
