Lucy L. (Burris) Sickle

February 3, 1923 — November 20, 2011

Lucy L. Sickle, 88, passed away on November 20, 2011.  She was born in Mason, WV to the late Theodore and Hattie (Nelson) Burris and had been an Akron resident most of her life.  She was a member of United Church of Christ in Suffield, and was very active in the VFW, as a member of the Cootie Group and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Mogadore Post #8487. Mrs. Sickle retired as a machinist from Summit Grinding and also worked for Goodyear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 1959, and daughter, Ruth E. Marshall in 2007.  She is survived by her son, James Terry (MJ Dellucci) Sickle; grandchildren, Allen (Melinda) Marshall, Patty (Dean) Dinwiddie, and Michelle (David) Gilley; and great-granddaughter, Noel Gilley.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Wally Scofield officiating.  Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m. with VFW Auxiliary services held at 4:00 p.m.
