Madge Josephine (Stark) Regallis

April 22, 1925 — April 28, 2015

After 90 years on this earth, our beloved mother, Madge J. Regallis, is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, free from physical pain and the mental anguish of Alzheimer’s disease.  Mom went home to be with our Lord on April 28, 2015.  A lifelong resident of Akron, she was born on April 22, 1925, to Douglas O. and Mary (Gainer) Stark and was a Garfield High School Graduate.

For 54 years mom was a devoted wife to the late Joseph Devereux Regallis before his death March 16, 2000.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Allen, Max and Earl; and sisters, Ruth and Marie.  Mom grieved deeply from the loss of her son, Joel Steven Regallis in 2010, and the loss of her lifelong friend, Marie Petras.

Madge is survived by her sons, John (Barb), Jerry (Lani), Jeff (Mary Jane), Jay (Kathie), and Jim (Karen); daughters, Mary (David) Cial and Nancy (Jeff) Gillentine, and her adoring 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly their grandma GG and Meme.  She will be sorely missed by her dear, lifelong friend, Maxine Peternell and many other family and friends.

God gave her the voice of an angel, and she sang and played piano, performing for her family, friends and on the radio, even making a studio recording in the 1940’s.  Her true calling, though, was to be a mother.  She was a wonderful mom, dedicating her life to raising her eight children.  Her many years of devotion and sacrifice were rewarded with thousands of smiles, hugs and kisses when being visited by her 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Christopher Milo for playing piano for mom at her birthday party last year and this year, to Crossroads Hospice for their loving care, and to the wonderful staff at The Village of St. Edward.

Calling hours will be held from 5 – 7 pm on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St. The funeral service will be at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Campo officiating, on Tuesday, May 5 at 11 am, where friends may call from 10 – 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 70 W. Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236 or online, in the name of Madge’s Minions at http://act.alz.org/goto/JayRegallis.
