Margaret Eugenia Riffile, 89, passed away September 24, 2015. She was born in Akron to the late John and Margaret (Markovics) Riffile and was a 1943 graduate of South High School. She earned a Bachelors degree from the University of Akron and a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from Kent State University.
Margaret worked as a clinical and teaching dietitian at many local hospitals and nursing homes, including People's Hospital, Akron City Hospital, Akron General Hospital, Barberton Hospital, Robinson Memorial and Massillon Community Hospital. She was an instructor at the University of Akron with dietetic students and the School of Nursing at Akron General Hospital with student nurses. She was a member of Akron Dietetic, Ohio Dietetic and the American Dietetic Association, holding several local and state offices and attending state, national and international conferences.
She was also a long-time member of Firestone Park United Methodist Church and belonged to the P.T.P, the Munroe Falls Historical Society and Oasis of Kaufmann's. She was an avid and accomplished bicyclist, even cycling overseas, and enjoyed the Fall Hiking Spree for 25 years.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Riffile Quinn; cousins, Joyce Myers and George Pittinger; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Rd.
