Margaret Sheppard, 78, passed away peacefully May 18, 2026. She was born in St. Mary’s, WV to the late Clarence and Sadie (Smith) Hammond and was a graduate of Barberton High School.
Margaret retired from the City of Cuyahoga Falls Board of Education following a fulfilling career in the cafeteria. To her, the students were more than just pupils; she cared for each of them as if they were her own. She found her greatest peace in the simple pleasures of life—tending to her garden, the quiet patience of fishing, soaking up the sunshine and a lifelong love for animals. She also held a famous fondness for scratch-off lottery tickets and the joy of a lucky win. Above all, Margaret was a woman defined by her devotion to her family, who remained the center of her world.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Rob; three brothers; and two sisters. Her legacy of love continues through her husband of 57 years, Gary “Pete” Sheppard; her children, David (Anna) Sheppard and Mindy (Matt) Thompson; and her daughter-in-law, Micki Sheppard. She was the cherished grandmother of Wyatt, Aiden, Alexa, and Emersyn. She also leaves behind her brother, Charles Hammond; and sisters, Betty Harris, Mary Morgan, and Barb Hammond; and a large extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews."
