Marion (Patterson) Carney

October 14, 1924 — January 11, 2016

Marion Carney, 91, passed away January 11, 2016. She was born in Akron to the late William and Catherine (Miller) Patterson and was a Springfield High School graduate. She retired from Akron City Hospital, was a member of the Daughters of America, and was an avid bowler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William; close friend, David Fleming; sisters, Margaret Finney and Ruth Lee; and son-in-law, Frank Dakes. She is survived by her daughters, Bernice (Jerry) Zemelka, Ruth Dakes and Sharon (Denny) Dever; grandchildren, Tammy (Mick) Okoroski, Theresa (Mark) Wilson, Jami (Dave) Cutlip, Ginger (Mike) Carroll, Jimmy Zemelka and William (Chandra) Dever; 14 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles Patterson; and sisters, Roberta Johnson and Carolyn Horchler.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Jack Irwin officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 6 – 7 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staff of Stow-Glenn Nursing Home for their fine care of mom.
