Marjorie M. (King) Boyd

May 24, 1924 — November 16, 2011

Marjorie M. Boyd, 87, passed away November 16, 2011. She was born in Canton, OH to the late Clyde and Sevilla (Domer) King and had been an Akron resident since 1943. She was a graduate of the University of Akron and worked at Goodyear Aerospace and Grace United Church of Christ. She was a member of The Chapel and a former member of Redeemer United Methodist Church, where she was the organist for a number of years.

Marjorie shared a great love of music with her two sisters, as they were known as the “King Sisters Trio” growing up, while singing in churches and on the radio. She also belonged to the Woodland Estates Garden Club and Women’s Bowling League and she loved hiking the local metro parks trails with her husband and watching birds.

She led a Godly life and was a true believer who valued faith and family above all else. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Audrey (Bob) Coode and Ruth (Dick) Maher and brother-in-law, Tom (Henrietta). She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hugh;  children, Jeanette M. (Eugene) and Gordon (Robin); grandchildren, Andrew and David Bober; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Steve Bucy officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 1 – 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St. Akron, OH 44308.
