Michael D. Witwer, 44, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 6, 2016 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Akron, was a 1990 Firestone High School graduate and earned both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron.
Mike worked for AECOM for 20 years, recently earning a promotion to National Sales Director. He was also a member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church, where he loved singing in the choir, as well as the Akron-Coventry Masonic Lodge # 83.
Preceded in death by his father, David and cousin, Mark Hinson, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Danielle; daughters, Bethany and Angela; mother, Carol; sister, Kate (Jack) Poole; sisters-in-law, Dianne (John) and Debra; brother-in-law, David (Denise); and many other loving relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Dr., Akron, OH 44305, Rev. Joseph Burkhardt officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mike’s memory be made to Wedgewood United Methodist Church.
