Mildred H. Collis passed away in her Tallmadge home Wednesday afternoon at the age of 90, after a brief decline in health. A graduate of The University of Akron and The Ohio State University, Millie spent 40-plus years as an educator in the Akron Public School system. She remained an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Theta Upsilon/Delta Zeta, The College Club of Akron, the AAUW, and Akron Woman’s City Club up until her death. A devoted reader and avid square dancer, Millie will be remembered for her kindness, classiness, philanthropy, and patronage of the arts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Collis, parents Robert and Mary Hancock, and sister Edie Hancock-Brothers. No service will be held at the request of the deceased. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Summa Health System.
