Nancy L. Selle, 79, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 6, 2012 after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born on February 28, 1933 in Charleston, WV to the late Gilbert and Gladys (Tyo) Long and lived in Akron for over 60 years.
Nancy was a Garfield High School graduate and attended the University of Akron. She worked as a cost accountant at several local companies, including 20 years at Akron Crane and Conveyor, and loved reading and knitting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William and sisters, Mary Darrah and Shirley Brown. She is survived by her children, Peggy (John) Ziroff, Robert (Denise) Selle, Elizabeth (Barry) Riggs, Teresa (James) Delaney and Joseph (Mary Ellen) Selle; grandchildren, Sarah (Ben) Cook, Julie Ziroff, Lauren, Brian and Logan Selle, Sean, Jason and Ashley Riggs, Jennifer Holley, Christine (Jeff) Sutherland, William (Ellen) Selle, and Christopher, Nicholas and Thomas Selle; great-grandchildren, Alexis Leon and Austin and Madison Sutherland; and sister, Katherine (Marlin) Porcher.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Byron Arledge officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 10, from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
