Norma Marie Nelson, 84, went home to be with the Lord August 31, 2016. Norma was born in Akron to the late Delbert and Camie (Lane) Brown and was a lifetime Akron resident. She worked as a secretary for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and retired from her home day care business after 30 years. Norma was a 1950 graduate of Coventry High School, later attending both the Hammel Business College and the Moody Bible Institute. She was a longtime member of Brown Street Baptist Church, now known as Hope Baptist, where she loved teaching Sunday school classes.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Dennis Privara, Thomas Privara, Zita Mary Nelson, Marie McCumbers, and Jan (Robert) Ingram; grandchildren, Melanie, Dawn, Paul, John, Beckie, Jacob, Jason, Mary and Amy; close friend, Lois Helwig, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other friends. Norma was preceded in death by husband, John Nelson; devoted friend, John Adams; son, Paul Privara; great-granddaughter, Adrianna; sister, Peggy McCumbers; and brother, Robert Brown.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 2, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3rd at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Kuhns officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
