Phyllis Virginia “Polly” Smith, 93, passed away June 27, 2012. She was born in McGaheysville, VA to the late Willard and Gertrude (Meadows) Huffman and lived most of her life in the greater Akron area. She retired from the Cuyahoga Falls School District with 17 years of service and was an active member of the Grace Cathedral since 1973, volunteering in numerous church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvey; sisters, Francis Elizabeth, Doris “Jackie” and Mary Cathelyne “Kate”; and brothers, Aubrey “Bud” and Willard “Bill”. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Trudy) and Allen (Kathleen); 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Huffman and Julian Benjamin “Ben” Huffman; and many loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Christopher Machamer officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Sunday, July 1, from 2 – 4 p.m.
