Ralph L. “Rotten Ralph” Powell, 71, passed away February 27, 2015. He was born in Akron on February 8, 1944 to the late Carl and Alma (Barr) Powell and was a 1962Coventry High School graduate.
Ralph was a retired truck mechanic, working for Allstate Freight, P.I.E., Preston and the Woodridge Schools. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local 24 and attended the First Baptist Church of Barberton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Howard and Richard and sister, Bernice Watkins. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Tammy; son, Mark Carter; children close to his heart, Robyn Buechers, Bryan Friend and Traci Muraco; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; best friend and long-time companion, Carol Werner; sister-in-law, Reba Powell Stewart; several nieces and nephews; little buddies, LaVern and Shirley; special friends Bud Lewis, John Bertschy, Tammy and Ernie Johnson, and Jody and Mike Mellinger; and so many more.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
