Ralph E. Thompson, 86, left his earthly home for his heavenly home on June 26, 2015. Born in St. Michael, PA to Arthur and Nellie (Vivian) Thompson, he had been an Akron area resident since 1952. A U. S. Army Veteran, he was self employed and was a member of Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene. Ralph loved reading his Bible, was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed working in the yard.
Preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother, he will be sadly missed by wife of 67 years, Merna (nee Reed); children, Lynn (Maria), Kathy (Ernest) Lamtman, Ron (Joyce), Darlene (Hugh III) Bartlett, Roger (Trish), David (Sandy) and Allen; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Ruth) Thompson; special friends, Harold and Audrey Holcomb; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 1, 2015 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Jim Dockery officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
