Randal Lee “Randy” Klinginsmith, 62, lost his courageous battle with cancer August 22, 2024. He was born July 1, 1962 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to the late Mary Lou Klinginsmith-Alexander and the late Robert M. Klinginsmith and was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1980. Randy then joined the U.S. Army and at the completion of his commitment, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his Naval career he served aboard both the USS California and the USS Nimitz, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After finishing his military career, Randy then joined the United States Postal Service retiring in 2022 with 32 years of service. Randy was a lifetime member of the VFW Airport Post 8975 and a past member of East Market Street United Church of Christ. He enjoyed computer games and casino slots. He also enjoyed playing fictional table top and video games with his longtime friends. Their highlight was attending the yearly Gencon gaming convention in Indianapolis. Randy was preceded in death by his brother, Robert M. Klinginsmith II. He is survived by his sisters, Mickey (Jim) Ward and Tammy Sickels; along with his niece and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 12 noon at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Chris Thompson officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, from 10 am – 12 noon. Interment with military honors at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
