Richard H. “Dick” Gray (“The Singer Man”), 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and the love of his life Isabelle, together since 1948, after fighting a 20 year battle of health issues. He was born in Aliquippa, PA to the late Harold and Clara (Thornton), lived in Conneaut and moved to Akron in 1960.  He served in the Korean Conflict with the Army National Guard and was stationed in Panama.

After returning home, Dick found the other love of his life, sewing machines. He spent 50 some years selling, fixing, and enjoying them and retired as a district sales manager from the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Even from his hospital bed he was selling sewing machines to his doctors and nurses.  Dick was a voracious sports fan, Ellet High Football, the Browns and the Indians among his favorites!

Dick leaves his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Isabelle; daughter, Linda Gray (Patti Como); sons, Jim (Gwenne), Tom (Vicky) and Richard Jr. (Kathy); grandchildren, John (Sarah), Melanie (Steve), Nick, Lindsey, David (Sarah), Torri and Chris; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Walter) Wright and Barbara Staiger; brother-in-law, Richard (Denise) Severa; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to extend many thanks to Drs. Trochelman, Abramovich, Shaub and Gedeon and the entire staff of Summa Healthcare, in particular the Palliative Care Unit.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 800 E. Market St. with Rev. Ron Shultz officiating.  Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St. and ONE HOUR prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
