Richard “Dick” L. Catt, born January 16, 1935, passed away at home with his family February 23, 2013.
Dick was very special. He was a skilled craftsman and true artist with his hands; his love of the ability to create drove him to turn every project into a masterpiece. Custom car painting, cabinet making, building model trains, or simply remodeling the house, everything Dick touched had to be perfect to his standards. Dick was an avid bowler and liked to golf. He was always ready to help family and friends and was truly loved and the world is a lesser place without him in it.
Dick was a graduate of East High School, class of 1951, and became a journeyman machinist with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He retired from Goodyear in 1997 with 46 years of service.
Dick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Marilou; daughters, Kathy (John) Olesky and Terry (Rob) Keener; grandchildren, John R. (Adri) Olesky, Abigail Olesky, and Alec, Aaron and Megan Keener; great-grandchildren, Brett and Bryce Olesky; special friend and brother-in-law, Russell Glass and family; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thanks to his friends, John and Jim Cordier and Darrell Rice and their families for all their love and support. Dick and Marilou would like to thank Summa Hospice for all their hard work, as they made a very difficult time better.
The family will be having a private service and requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Summit County Humane Society in memory of Dick Catt to honor his great love of animals. His girls always said, if Pop can’t fix it, nobody can.
