Robert "Bob" A. Weiss

Robert ‘Bob’ A. Weiss, 83, passed away April 30, 2024. He was born in Akron to the late William and Lillie (Goldstein) Weiss and was a Buchtel High School graduate. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from General Tire (Continental Tire) with over 30 years of service.

Bob was extremely active in the community and known by many in West Akron as coach.  He impacted many starting his PeeWee football coaching career with West and then directed and coached the Northwest Akron Hawks.  He was also instrumental with the startup of the Hawks basketball league and helped run for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly; children, Michael (Andrea) Weiss, Matthew (Stephanie) Weiss, Erica (David) Akin, and Sean Weiss; 7 grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Zach, Sam, Luke, Nick, Claire, Izzy and Danni; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Richard Weiss.
