Roma V (Pollock) Turnbow

September 11, 1919 — June 7, 2011

Roma V. Turnbow, 91, passed away June 7, 2011 of breast cancer.  Born in Hohenwald, Tennessee, she lived the last fifty years in the Akron area.  Ms. Turnbow was a loving homemaker for over sixty years and a member of Green Valley United Methodist Church, where she was loved dearly.

Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leland, she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Ron) Miller; son, Mark; grandchildren, Nathan (Christina) Miller, Emily Miller, and Mark, Travis and Gabriella Turnbow.

The great loves of mom’s life were her God, husband, children, sisters and brothers, Tennessee, recipe contests and trips to the West Pointe Market. She had a great heart for others and always reached out with concern and assistance whenever she saw a need, not just in spirit but in deed.

For everyone (probably in the hundreds) who were in love, given a kitchen spatula or whisk, please think of her whenever you use them; that would make her so happy.

She missed Leland every day and looked forward to their bodies resting side by side in Tennessee and their souls reunited in the place in Heaven prepared for them.

Private funeral services were held in Tennessee. Friends who wish may make contributions to Green Valley United Methodist Church, 620 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, OH 44319.
