Rose B. Curtis

Rose B. Curtis, 93, passed away March 11, 2013. Born  March 3, 1920, in Akron, she was raised in Copley and was an East High School graduate. She worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II and became a proud military wife, living in many different places.

Rose was also a dedicated volunteer at Akron City Hospital for 36 years, until age 92, with over 10,000 hours served. Amongst many other duties, she was known for wearing decorative holiday hats to help cheer up patients and became affectionately known as the "Hat Lady".

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert; her aunt and uncle who raised her, John and Katherine Sees; and their children, Kathryn Brown and Herman Sees. She is survived by her children, Kathie Rutzen and Robert Curtis, and grandson, Christopher Rutzen.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 12 noon with at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating.  Calling hours will be for two hours prior to the service, from 10 am - 12 noon with private burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Should you desire, memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
