Rosemary (Daugherty) Hill

April 20, 1923 — August 20, 2012

Rosemary (Monroe) Hill (nee Daugherty), 89, passed away peacefully on Aug. 20, 2012.

Rosemary was born on April 20, 1923, in Hartford, CT and lived most of her life in Akron.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.

She began her career as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell and retired as a telecommunications instructor at Ohio Edison, where she made many friends and often spent time sharing fond memories of her time there. She was also a member of The Bellerinas and Entre Nous and was a member of Wedgewood United Methodist Church since 1947.

Rosemary always offered a smile and kind words to everyone she met. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Harold Monroe, husband, Robert Hill; and grandson, Timothy E. Monroe. She is survived by sons, Don E. (Flo) Monroe and Jerry (Marge) Monroe; granddaughters, Julie (Quinton) Cutler, Denise (Bryce) Elliott, Carolyn (Kris) Crosier, Brooke (Brent) Overholt and Brandy Monroe; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating.  Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 4 - 7 p.m.
