Ryley K. Whaples

Ryley K. Whaples, age 11, passed away peacefully November 19, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with neuroblastoma cancer. She was born in Akron on July 20, 2010 and was a 6th grade student at Roberts Middle School.

Ryley was one of a kind. She loved making TikTok videos, watching YouTube, and had a parade in her honor in Cuyahoga Falls. She was a huge fan of Harry Styles, and was granted her biggest wish by having a live video chat with him before a recent concert. She was outspoken with no filter, was wise beyond her years, and was the strongest person you could ever meet. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her mother, Penny Sells;  brother, Caleb Slusser; grandmother, Shirley Barnes; aunt, Kim Werner; and many many friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the oncology staff at Akron Children’s Hospital; Western Reserve Hospice; the FAM Foundation and Milk Tyson; and dear friends, the Marting family.
