Sandra Kay Alexander-Barclay (nee Rafferty) went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer.
She is survived by sisters, Donna (David) Sipos, Mary Demrovsky; brother, Arza James (Ida) Rafferty; children, Janet (John) Izworski, M. Keith (Bonnie) Alexander, Donald (Susan) Alexander, Darla Caruso, Carole Sue Alexander, and Karen Alexander; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three former sons-in-law, who were very special to her, Randall Sharp, Anthony Caruso, and Robert Pollack.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lewis Alexander; daughter, Valerie Ann Alexander; mother, Dorothy Bell; sister, Kathy Rafferty; and two brothers, Glenn Rafferty and Arnold Argenio.
Sandra overcame a great many obstacles in her life, becoming a strong, wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved the “little ones” and her face always lit up when they came to visit. She really enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and reading all types of books. She was affectionately referred to as “Mom” and “Grandma” by a number of other kids throughout the years whom she lovingly welcomed into her home and family. Though she will be deeply missed, her life will continue to be celebrated by the many lives that she touched.
Services to be held at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, 4724 State Road, Peninsula, OH on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
