Sara was born in Grafton, West Virginia on June 28, 1925 and lived most of her life in the Akron area. Sara was a "Rosie Riveter" in the shipyards during World War II, worked in the nursing field, as a child caregiver, and continued to work in fast food until she was 82 years old. She was a proud member of the Portage Lakes Eagles where she was Past- President and Past-Chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the ritual team. She loved shopping at the Salvation Army, playing bingo, going to the casino, playing games, going for drives and having ice cream whenever she could.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Dean; son, Charles; parents, Alvin and Hazel (Hart) Workman; sister, Violet Dean; brother, David; and her Dachshund Mr. Peabody. Sara is survived by her caregivers: son, Dennis and grandchildren, Bridget and Shayne Gray. She is survived by her brother, Bill (Lola); sons, Francis (Diane), Kenneth, Howard (Cathy), Leslie (Gloria), Richard; and daughter, Sara (Tim Overdorf). Sara has over thirty-five grand-children and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She loved us all and We love you Grams!
The funeral service will be Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
