Shirley J. Brown, 81, passed away September 15, 2015. She was born in Akron to the late Wilmer and Katherine (Rasp) Haywood and retired from O’Neill’s with many years of service. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, especially making afghan’s for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; grandson, Mark Petersen; brothers, Blair, Gary and Sonny; sister, Ruby; and brother-in-law, Lloyd. She is survived by her children, Darlene, Edward (Monica), Georgann (Mark) and Richard Jr.; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Marlene.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 10 am – 12 noon at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel, 760 E. Market St. A graveside service will immediately follow at Hillside Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Victims Assistance, 150 Furnace St., Akron, OH 44304.
