Pastor Shirley C. Jones, 77, was called home to be with the Lord March 18, 2014. She was born in Akron to the late Walter and Eathel (Pinkston) Stanley and was a lifelong resident of the area, serving as a minister at Harvest Christian Center of North Canton.
Shirley was a devoted wife to the late Charles E. Jones, whom she married in 1960, and dearly loved her family and her church. She was also incredibly selfless, helping many people, both young and old, in their times of need.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Bethanie Gardner; sisters-in-law, Alice and Gladys; and brother-in-law, Calvin. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Lonnie) Howell; son, Charles David (Dawn) Jones; grandchildren, Mark (Heather) Gardner, James (Marie) Craft, and Kimberly, William and Lydia Jones; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Mason, Haylee and Michael Gardner; and brothers, Galen (Gwen) Stanley, Kenneth (Ruth) Stanley and Glenn Stanley.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Sharon Edwards officiating. Calling hours will be for one hour prior to the service, from 10 – 11 a.m. with burial at Tallmadge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvest Christian Center 116 9th St. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
