Thelma M. Bolen, 86, passed away May 24, 2011. Born and raised in the Akron area, Mrs. Bolen was a member of the Visitation of Mary Catholic Church. During WW ll, Thelma worked at Goodyear Aircraft and was a proud “Rosie the Riveter” assembling the famous Goodyear FG-1 Corsair fighter plane, she also was a contest winner in a Miss America contest held at Goodyear. She was also the snack bar manager at Zayers department store for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Earl, and Kenneth (Carrie); daughter, Brenda (Richard) Hummel; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at the Visitation of Mary Catholic Church, 87 Broad St, with Father Jonathan Zingales officiating. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., Friday, May 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.
