W. Alice Reed

W. Alice Reed, 101, passed away June 9, 2024. She was born in East Sparta, OH on October 17, 1922 to the late William and Ollie Caroline (Brothers) Neiss. She graduated from East Sparta High School in 1940 and worked at a clay plant in Canton, OH during WWII.

Alice was a talented pianist, playing on radio station WHBC in Canton and for her church, Centennnary UMC. She was also a dedicated homemaker spending time with her family, and also enjoyed music, reading, knitting and sewing.

Alice is survived by her children, Beth (Garry) Greenwald, Joel (Cathy) Reed and Jay (Harriett) Reed; grandchildren, Greg (Kathy) Greenwald, Stacey Greenwald, Melissa Erskine, Eric (Megan) Reed, Christopher (Stephanie) Reed and Spencer (Allyson) Reed; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and sisters, Edith Boyd and Louise Gsell.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Cemetery on State Route 183 in Malvern, OH with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating.
