Walter L. Buchanan, 63, passed away August 24, 2013. He was born in Akron, to the late John and Thelma Buchanan, and lived his life in the Akron area. Walter retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., with 31 years of service as a tire builder. While working at Goodyear, he served as a proud Union Representative for the workers. Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Corvette Club of Akron and the Portage Lakes Eagles # 2736. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and sports enthusiast, especially for the Cleveland Browns and OSU Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda K. Buchanan in 2004. He is survived by his sons, James and William; daughters, Lisa (Rick) Fraley and Shelly Buchanan; grandchildren, Ricky, Hannah, Jacob, Emily, Walter, Brandt, and Kaelyn; and brother, John (Karen) Buchanan.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at 11: 00 a.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Brian Nutt officiating. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
