Walter Kelley passed at home peacefully in his sleep on September 1, 2011 after many years of illness and Hospice care. Walter was born Ervin Walter Kelley on October 4, 1918 to Chauncey and Jessie (Miracle) Kelley in Akron.
He was the oldest of three children; Harold and Virginia predeceased him. Walter leaves his wife of 70 years, Margaret (Pfost); their three children, Terry (Donna) of Lake City, CO, Larry (Diane) of Paso Robles, CA, and Susan (David) Wirshup of Carmel, CA; six grandchildren, Todd (Janelle) Kelley, Jessie (Rob) Anderson, Mike Kelley, Jennifer (Keith Hodar) Kelley, Megan (Al) Richardson, and Kathryn (Terry) Gaines; and eleven great-grandchildren. Walter accepted Christ as his savior as a young man and now joins Him in celebration forever.
Walter served his country as a sergeant in the Army in Amchitka, Alaska during World War II. He was a member of The Chapel in Akron, where he taught Sunday School, ushered and served as the Church Clerk for many years, and he retired from Goodyear Aerospace in 1981.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 10 - 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304 in the name of Walter.
