William D. Thompson, 67, passed away June 23, 2012. He was born in New Castle, PA to the late William and Elsie (Pitzer) and was an Akron resident for over 40 years.
William earned his bachelors degree in mathematics from Slippery Rock University, became a Vice President at Bank One and most recently, mowed the greens at Firestone Country Club. He was also an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman, and he loved the Steelers.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Roberta; son, Curtis (Lynn); grandson, Jacob; sister, Jayne; nieces, Jennifer and Michelle; sister-in-law, Debbie (Ron) Harkless and their children, Anastasia and Kristen; aunt, Esther McCreery; and many, many good friends.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the oncology and palliative care staffs at Summa Hospital.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Mr. Vincent Dicintio officiating.
